In Loving Memory of William Benjamin Townsend
Sunrise: June 8, 1936 – Sunset: June 27, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of William Benjamin Townsend, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend, who departed this life on June 27, 2025.
William was born on June 8, 1936, in the Panama Canal Zone to the late Ernestine and Hezekiah Scott-Townsend, the second of eight children. Raised in a home filled with love, discipline, and faith, William developed the strength of character and quiet leadership that would define his entire life.
In the early 1970s, he immigrated to the United States, determined to build a better life for his family. He began a long and dedicated career with Warner Bros. Communications, where he worked with pride and integrity until his retirement. His strong work ethic, humility, and consistency left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
At the center of William’s life was his devotion to his family. He was married to his beloved wife, Marcelle, for an extraordinary 63 years—a rare and enduring partnership grounded in love, mutual respect, and deep commitment. Together, they created a lasting legacy of unity and resilience.
William was the loving father of Jacqueline Townsend-Punch (Kurtis) and William Townsend (Rhonda). He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Marcy Townsend.
He was a proud grandfather to:
Danicia Punch, Victor Punch, Michael Punch, Tariq Punch, Na'Im Punch, Jaraad Punch, Sahyir Woods, William Townsend, Zatai Townsend, and Zatiannah Townsend.
His joy continued through his 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought light, laughter, and pride to his heart.
William was preceded in death by his parents and three of his siblings: Margarett, Hezekiah Jr., and David. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings: Ann, Chubby, Veronica, and Rodolfo, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and treasured friends.
William was more than a family man—he was the foundation of the family. His calming presence, wise counsel, and unwavering love were a source of strength to all who knew him. His life was a testament to humility, quiet strength, and enduring faith.
We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring his life:
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate his incredible legacy. His spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the love he shared.
Rest peacefully, dear William. You were, and forever will be, Our Foundation.
