Saintil Delice Obituary
Saintil “Santo” Delice was born on May 16, 1937 in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic to Don Alfredo Brito (of SPM) and Mariela Florestal (of Barahona).
Saintil met his bride, Germaine, in Port-au-Prince and started a family. He developed management skills as a union president at the Bata Corporation's shoe manufacturing facility. Seeking broader opportunities, he spearheaded the family emigration to Brooklyn, New York where he and Germaine created a foundation of education, hard work, good manners and faith for their five children.
He had a brilliant and industrious mind and made a career in the field of construction where he worked within teams responsible for such large projects as NYS Thruway in Westchester and the Interboro Parkway that connects Brooklyn and Queens. Santo was especially proud of his work during the refurbishment and expansion of Flushing Hospital where his contributions were noted by hospital administration. Saintil had a passion for entrepreneurship and wisely invested in NYC taxi medallions and multifamily real estate.
Saintil was committed to his faith, and his love of the Lord propelled many of his life's choices. He was an active member of Maranatha and Linden Seventh Day Adventist churches for five decades, where he forged many relationships.
Saintil was preceded in death by his wife Germaine, their son Felix, grandson Chrystian, and his sister Ermite. He will be greatly missed by numerous friends and family including his siblings (Alourdes, Anita, Osita, and Luckner), children (Marie, Ronaldi, Pierre Bernardo, and Godard), son in law Guy Sr MD, daughter in law Mickaelle, grandchildren Betsy, Guy Jr MD, Pierre Richard, Robert, Jennifer, Tasha, Godard Jr, Tatiana Fabrice, Tatiana, Ronaldi II, and Regina. Also, great grandchildren Jeremy, Joseph, Sophia, Emery, Penelope, Maximus and numerous nieces and nephews.
Saintil’s life was a testament to his kindness, generosity, and the deep connections he fostered with those around him. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
