Roland Amilcar was born in Port-au-Prince and raised on the countryside of Leogane, Haiti on October 10, 1945. He was the eldest son of Eugene Amilcar and Rosamene Zetrenne, and brother to Germaine Amilcar, Marla Amilcar, Yvon Amilcar, Yvanne Amilcar, Sonet Amilcar and Weber Amilcar.
Growing up in Haiti he attended the institution of St. Louis Gonzague. As a talented young man he developed a passion for the arts and painting while creating a great body of work.
At the age of 25, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, NY. In 1972 he met his lovely wife Marie Rose Amilcar and married two years later. Their loving union produced two beautiful daughters.
As an entrepreneur, he ventured into film photography and picture frame development. He later went on to working in the transportation industries.
Roland was a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. He was a catalyst of support to his entire family, a demonstration of strength, and a force of unconditional love.
Roland is survived by his wife Marie Rose Amilcar, his son Ronald Amilcar (Mirlande), his daughters Miriam “Michou” Amilcar and Dafney “Founa” Amilcar-Rodriguez (Brian); his grandsons Amil Rodriguez, Andrew Amilcar; his granddaughters Miranda Amilcar, Amia Rodriguez and a village of family to which he referenced as “the team”.
On January 9, 2020, Roland was called into the Kingdom of God surrounded by love and family.
