RALPH CARGILL was born on August 2, 1932 in Banes, Cuba to the proud parents of Reita Mae and Fabrian Ivanhoe Cargill. He was one of two children born to this union. Ralph spent his childhood with his sister, Marina. They participated in many social activities and made sure to attend church and bible school every Sunday. In 1957 Ralph married the love of his life, Mildred Cargill. Together they had 3 children: Rafael, Ricardo and Lillian Lissette. Ralph was worried about Communism in Cuba and sent his family to the United States. He stayed behind and worked in Guantanamo Bay, Naval Base as an auto mechanic. In 1970, he migrated to the United States to join his wife and children to live the “American Dream”. In the United States, Ralph was employed as a foreman for Chrysler dealership. He then moved on and gained employment at Judith Transportation until he retired. He was never able to stay still, so while retired, he chose to go back to work as a security guard for the Rockville Centre School System where the children and staff loved “Ralphie”. Ralph worked here until the age of 87. Ralph was a giving, loving and helpful individual. He was dedicated to his family, he went above and beyond to provide and make sure his family was well taken care of. He was a father figure to many and known as “Papi”. Ralph was a loving grandfather and often assisted in raising them. He would lend a helping hand to whomever was in need. He helped all the neighbors in the neighborhood; whether it was shoveling their snow, fixing their cars, or carpentry work. There wasn’t a task that Ralph could not do. Ralph enjoyed doing yard work and relaxing in his backyard. He loved to travel, dance, listen to music and party. Ralph was a jovial person, he loved to play pranks and jokes on people, he had a great sense of humor. Ralph was a mathematician, he could solve any arithmetic problem you can present to him. He loved politics and baseball. Ralph was a faithful member of his lodge from Cuba and maintained his membership while in the States. In March of 2021, his health started to decline and he became ill. Ralph transitioned on April 23, 2023. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memories:his Wife, Mildred Cargill, Marina(sister), Children:Ricardo & Lillian Lissette, Jose(son-in-law), Grandchildren: Troy, Kayla, Nahson, Jose Jr, Geana, Jasmine. Great-GrandChildren: Nevaeh, Rafael, Antonio, Nathan, Kaiya, Kamryn. Nieces: Jackie, Tanya,Joan, Diana, Thais, Khial(great-nephew). Godchildren: Jose Angel & Marlene, Cousins, Friends, and a host of relatives. Deceased: Rafael Antonio(Son), Ricardo Lamar(grandson).
