Raicho Markov
Raicho "Ryan" Vassilev Markov was born on March 6th, 1971, in the beautiful city of Montana, Republic of Bulgaria. He was born in the family of Vasil Markov and Emichka Markova and has an older brother Marty Markov. After graduating with honors from the Peter Bogdan High School, Ryan continued on to earn his bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of National and World Economy in 1994. After completing his education, Ryan married his first wife, Nelly. In 2000, Ryan and Nelly emigrated to the U.S. and later had two wonderful children, Emi and Dan. In 2008, the universe brought Ryan and Pascale together; they fell in love and, after a beautiful courtship, married a year later. Over the last thirteen years, Ryan and Pascale lived a beautiful life devoted to each other.
In 2017, Ryan’s love for his country and passion for politics led him to introduce the Modern Monetary Theory and establish the 'Bulgaria of Labor and Reason’ (BTR) political party. In 2021, Ryan participated in the Bulgarian elections and will be remembered for the full dedication and spirit he showed. His life and work exemplify bright humanity and commitment to defending the brightest ideals - justice, freedom, solidarity, morality, and prosperity for Bulgaria. He lived in the belief that he would see his country free from corruption and irresponsibility towards the working people. He worked tirelessly to answer the call to service and wanted to create a better and more dignified life for his people.
Ryan will not only be remembered for what he accomplished but also for his humility, curiosity, kindness and devotion to family. Ryan was a lifelong learner and loved to pass his time watching nature and wildlife programs, and documentaries of all kinds; National Geographic and the History and Smithsonian channels were among his favorites. He celebrated and cherished the simple pleasures of life; beach trips with his children, eating delicious Haitian food en famille, making Shopska salad for his Haitian family members who couldn’t get enough of it, and of course, vodka and chocolate.
Raicho's absence leaves a hole that simply cannot be filled. We cherish the generosity of his spirit and remember him as a wonderful father, husband, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife Pascale, daughter Emi, son Dan, and brother Marty, along with his extended family who love and miss him dearly.
Rest In Peace Raicho
