Nancy T. Landi

Nancy Theresa Landi of Garden City, New York, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026.

Born in Mamaroneck, New York, to Italian immigrant parents Pasquale Poccia and Rafaella (Nee; Ferraro) Poccia, Nancy was the third of four children. She spent her early years in Mamaroneck, where she attended local schools before moving with her family to Brooklyn. There, she graduated from Girls Commercial High School.

After graduation, Nancy began working for the Bell Telephone Company. In her free time, she enjoyed spending summer days at Far Rockaway. It was during one of her rides on the A Train that she met the love of her life. Nancy married her husband Arthur J. Landi on October 22, 1950, at Sacred Heart Church in Brooklyn, beginning a marriage that would span 53 years.

Together they made their home in Brooklyn and later Long Island, where they raised their four sons: Arthur, Gregory, Glen, and Mark. Nancy left her job at the telephone company to devote herself to raising her family. During those years, she volunteered with the PTA , as well as her and her husband being Scout leaders, empowering and serving youth in the community. Once her sons were grown, Nancy returned to work at the telephone company, which had become Verizon, where she continued her career until retirement.

Nancy was a gifted homemaker and creative individual whose talents touched the lives of many. She loved knitting, sewing, and crocheting, and was especially proud of creating beautiful wedding gowns for members of her family. She also enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, reading novels, decorating her home, and traveling on road trips with her family. An exceptional cook, Nancy was especially known for her cherished Italian recipes and the traditional Sunday dinners that brought family together around her table. Later in life, she became an active member of the Golden Ages Club on Long Island, where she enjoyed the friendships and activities it provided.

Nancy will be remembered for her loving heart, kindness, creativity, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and countless treasured memories.

She is survived by her four sons: Arthur (Mairead O Sullivan), Gregory (Joanne), Glen, and Mark (Julie) Landi; her three beloved grandchildren, Brian, John, and Mckinsley; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Arthur, her parents, Pasquale and Rafaella Poccia, and her brothers, Edmund Poccia, Arnold Poccia, and Angelo Poccia.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nancy's life at O'Brien-Sheipe Funeral Home, 640 Elmont Road, Elmont, New York, on Sunday, July 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 130 Fifth Street, Garden City, New York, on Monday, July 13, at 9:45 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, New York.
