Miguel “Mike” Angel Diaz
Mike was born in New York City on August 15, 1951 to his loving parents, Paulita Diaz Rivera and Domingo Diaz Medina. He was just 13 months younger than his older brother Jorge “George” Diaz. Later the family welcomed two more boys, Domingo “Nick” Diaz and Edwin “Eddie” Diaz. The four brothers remained close throughout their lives.
After graduating from Seward Park High School, he attended Brooklyn Technical College.
Always friendly and outgoing, Mike was a natural salesman. As a teenager he sold electronics from a Grand Street shop in the family’s neighborhood on the Lower East Side. He also worked for a major discount store on Church Street in downtown Manhattan. Then, after working in retail at Macy’s Department Store, he had a ten-year career at the renowned J&R Electronic Store.
For many years Mike used his skills to become a top salesman of Lazy Boy furniture in Queens, Manhattan and on Long Island.
After living in Woodside for many years where he raised his daughter Nicole and welcomed his grandchildren, Mike moved to Long Island.
Over ten years ago, Mike received the first of two pacemakers to help his kind heart. In the last few years he enjoyed spending holidays with his brothers, especially Nick and Lucy, visiting his grandchildren in Central Florida and his mother Paulita, in Puerto Rico.
Mike will be missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his brothers, George and Nick, his nephews and nieces and his daughter Nichole and four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jeremy, Melissa and Adalynn.
