Kesner Destin Obituary

On Monday August 2, 2021, Kesner “Colonel” Destin, 82, of St-Ouen, France, passed away at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital. Kesner was born on March 25, 1939 in Aquin, Haiti to the late Ladilia Alfred and Prelhomme Destin.

Kesner spent half of his life in Haiti, running multiple successful businesses and enjoying life. He frequently talked about his favorite motorcycle, the “Pa Pou Swiv”, that led him on many adventures and made him the talk of town. Kesner’s reputation was amplified by his dashing sense of style and ability to make friends with people from all backgrounds. He was also known for his good deeds, his master skills at checkers and his love for his land of birth.

Kesner emigrated to France in the late 1970s in search of a better life for himself and his children. Despite the culture shock and having to start anew in a foreign land, Kesner quickly became regional manager at ANG Services, thanks to his stellar leadership skills. With a relentless drive and dedication to his loved ones, he supported his children in their own immigration endeavors to other countries and managed to remain present in their lives despite the distance.

He loved the simple things in life, like eating a good home-cooked meal with friends and family, relaxing under the warm sunshine in Haiti and spending time with his loved ones. He will be remembered by his loved ones for his smile, caring heart and unconditional love. He frequently professed his love for them and was particularly proud of his “gèm”, his progeny, and his grandchildren. He was surrounded by his loved ones as he departed this world and heard farewell wishes from relatives who could not be with him.

Kesner was predeceased by his beloved Aunt Erna Dede. He is now survived by his wife Viergimene Jourdelan; his children Rose-May Destin, Rose-Marthe Destin, Kechemy Destin,  Niquette Destin, Frenel Destin and his wife Marjorie Charles, Nadege Sterling and her husband Wladimir Sterling, Sheilla Destin Dorcé and her husband Berto Dorcé, Ford Clervil Desir and his wife Finadlande Desir, Anncy Louis Destin and his wife Ersule Cazimir, Marie Chantale David, Gerard Destin; his grandchildren Stevens, Maxime, Myriam, Stanley, Wladimir, Stéphane, Jean-Philippe, Jean-Francois, Elsa, Lewis, Sherly, Dady, Severine Destin, Frederic Destin, Sylvianne Destin, Gabrielle Destin, Benjamin Destin, Hannah Destin, Clarisse Sterling, Yahel Dorcé, Saskyah Dorcé, Stenvil Clifford Desir, Joseph Desir, Jayden Desir, Ford Clervil Desir Jr., Wolf Desir, Sarah Fina Desir, Patricia Georges, Arthur Godson Destin, Wuanjil David, Jimmy David, Wood David, Hugo David, Annie David, Guychard Son Destin, Guy Charlot Destin, Geoldia Destin, Geoldine Destin, Stephane Destin, Geraldo, Destin, Whitner Destin, Frèdo Destin, Geraldine Destin, Yhann Destin, Mathier Whindy Destin, ; his great-grandchildren Princley, Shanty, Leyna, Wangerly, Sheyron, Wanchayna, Kenny, Wendy, Jaely, Myrtha, Talyah, Aaron; his brother Harold Destin and his wife Marie Louise; his niece Gina Destin; his cousins Gladys Dede and Louis Dede, as well as several extended family.
