Jeanne E. Michel

Jeanne Ernante Michel, age 84 of Elmont NY, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday July 07, 2022 in Valley Stream, NY.

Jeanne Ernante (Duliepre) Michel was born December 18, 1937, to Paul Odevre and Christine (Decoste) Duliepre in Saint-Jean-au-Sud, Haiti. She was raised in Aux Caye and Saint-Jean-au-Sud Haiti, and was educated at Madame Vilason in Aux Caye, St. Jean Baptiste in Saint-Jean-au-Sud and the Rurale.  On December 21st, 1963, she married her loving husband, Paul Salim Michel and worked as a seamstress in Port-au-Prince and learned how to bake in her spare time before moving with him to America in September 1968.  Jeanne worked as an Au Pair for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Franklin and then worked in maintenance for McClean Services of Bellrose, NY until her retirement in 2002. 

Jeanne enjoyed family more than anything. She loved spending time with her sisters, brothers, grandchildren, and her cousins.  She always made sure that her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews spent summers in her home or stayed with her whenever they were visiting NY.  Her passions included baking, cooking, working in her garden, going to church, and talking with her neighbors.  Jeanne always thought about others before herself, sacrificing her needs to make sure others were cared for first.  The whole family remembers her most for being the matriarch for the entirety of her family and for the love and kindness she had for everyone she met.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Salim Michel, age 90; her children Jean Michel of Elmont, Danny Michel of Elmont, Hancy Michel (Laquita) of Los Angeles, Marjorie Miller (Dieter) Wisconsin Rapids, Samuel Michel (Nicole) of Elmont, Sandra Michel of Elmont; grandchildren, Fabian, Britney, Salem, Ian, Maliya, Hancy Peter, Maribelle, Braysen; great-grandchild, Xekiel Angel; siblings, Hubert (Stella), Violette, Bernadette (Claude), Joseph R, Corine; Her nieces and nephews whom she helped raise; Ketty (Rollant), Rousell (Diana), Kenny, John, her Godson Jimmy, France (Roland), in addition to many more nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Solomon and William.
