Henriette Soutien Obituary

Henriette Soutien was born on October 15th, 1930, in Cuba to her loving parents: Theogene and Josephine Soutien.

Henriette's life was filled with love, family and friends. Leaving Cuba at a young age with her father and siblings, she found refuge in Haiti - where she spent a majority of her life. She was known to be a hard worker and an entrepreneur. Her charisma, beauty, humility, and kindness were traits that she carried throughout her life. Henriette was known for her love of singing, dancing, and humor.

In Henriette’s life, she was blessed with six children. The loving role and important duties of a mother were central to her existence. She extended her nurturing ways and also cared for her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends, and family.

In pursuit of new beginnings, Henriette moved to the United States and settled in Manhattan, New York. She embraced the vibrant energy of the city by finding work, making new friends, finding passions, and ultimately becoming an American Citizen. She found joy in her life living with her children and raising her grandchildren. In her later years, Henriette faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease with bravery and grace. She moved to Long Island to live with her Son, his wife and children -- who with assistance, cared for her to the end.

It is with solace that we acknowledge Henriette passed away peacefully in her sleep, during the morning of May 8th, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family.

Henriette Soutien is survived by four of her six beloved children: Her second born Son-Garry Delma and wife Huguette Delma and their children: Kenny, Steve, and Ashley; Her third born Son-Mario Laroche and wife Romeline Laroche and their children: Marvin, Pierre, and Tara G.; Her first born Daughter-Marie Rose Laroche; Her fourth born Son-Smith Philippeaux and wife Guilaine Philippeaux and their children: Tania, Schifane, Carmelle, (and memory of now deceased)Josephine; Her second born daughter-Suze Philippeaux, (Deceased) her children: Jeffrey Philippeaux, Taina Etienne, Wesley Edouard, Christopher Philippeaux; as well as, the memory of her first born Son born: Jean-Robert Delma (Deceased); Her Great grandchildren: Diana Etienne, Justin Etienne, Jaylene Rosado, Deryerk Rosado, Kristian Delma, Thamel Jackson, Hailey Harrison, Malakhi Davis, Elijah Philippeaux, and Jeff Philipeaux.
