GEORGES PHILIPPE ETIENNE

June 16, 1962 – January 11, 2021

The Etienne family is saddened to announce the passing of Georges Philippe Etienne, commonly known to his family and friends as Philippe. Philippe passed away on January 11, 2021, at the age of 58. Beloved Son, Brother, Father, Uncle, and friend to many.

Philippe was born in Gonaives, Haiti on June 16, 1962, as firstborn to Mariette and Pierre Faidherbe Etienne.  After initial schooling in Haiti, Philippe’s desire to pursue his interest in medical knowledge lead him to continue his education in Cordoba, Argentina.  While in Argentina, he met his beloved wife, Veronica, through a mutual friend in 1993.  They were married on February 19, 2000.  Despite his many health challenges, through the support of his family and wife, he was able to receive his medical degree on October 11, 2007.  In face of the debilitation that his illnesses allowed, he remained strong and steadfast in his Catholic faith and well-read knowledge on the state of global affairs.

Loved by many, Philippe is preceded in death by his father Pierre Faidherbe Etienne.  He is survived by his mother, Mariette Benoit Etienne; wife, Maria Veronica Lesa-Etienne; son, Ezekiel; brothers: Jean Richard, Jacques Edouard, and Albert Patrick.  Followed by sisters-in-law: Lydia, Sherley, and Marjorie. And succeeding nieces and nephews; Ashley, Kayla, Sebastien, Laurie, Noah, and Isaac. And other relatives and friends.  Honorable mention to surviving families: Etienne, Benoit, Barthole, Pierre-Jacques, Cadet, Pierre-Louis, and Champagne.
