Easton Castell Thompson (AKA “Buddy”), a devoted and charismatic family man who faithfully served his adopted country, breathed his last breath to join his Creator on Friday, November 19, 2021.
Easton was born in Manchester, Jamaica to Ruth and Harold Thompson on April 7, 1946, where he lived with his parents and 9 siblings.
In 1965 he came to Brooklyn, New York to pursue his education. In 1968 he was drafted into the US Marine Corps and served during the war in Vietnam. Upon his return, he attended Long Island University in Brooklyn to study Accounting. He went on to work as an Entrepreneur and VP Controller for several non-profits until he retired in 2011.
He was known for his warm smile and welcoming presence. You always felt that all was right when you were with him. He was full of life and enjoyed playing card games like Pita Pat and Ludie weekly with his family. You could never tell if he lost or won, he had an excellent poker face. He was a risk-taker, world traveler, and loved the ocean. He was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church from Asia District Manchester Jamaica to Elmont Temple SDA.
He is survived by his wife: Vergelina Thompson; Siblings: Bassett Thompson and Rita Thompson Minor (Proceeded by Kenneth, Codval, Orville, Winston, Gloria, Monica and Hyacinth); Children: Caleen Oliver, Easton Castell Thompson Jr, Anthony Cook, Wayne Thompson, Rita Thompson, Gelina Thompson, Yvette Lynch; Grandchildren: Castell, Cashaun, Michael, Tamorye, Kendall, Brooklynn, Tierra, Anthony, Kristopher, Jaelynne, Nia, Alyssa and Benjamin; Great Grandchildren: Ariyah, Blaze and Naomi along with many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Easton was a man that loved everyone and was well-loved.
May God’s perpetual light shine upon him and may he rest in peace.
