Debbian Rodney Obituary

Debbian Patrenda Rodney, passed away unexpectedly on May 3, in the arms of her family. Her family is deeply saddened by her untimely death.

Debbian was born on January 19, 1975 in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, Jamaica to Michael Sculley and Evadne Fearon. She attended Marlie Mount Primary School and then moved on to Old Harbour High School.

Early in life,  she met Stanley, her husband and soulmate.  Their union produced two beautiful girls Kimberly and Kathryn. They have been together for over 30 years. Stanley first migrated to America seeking better opportunities for his family, then Debbian and Kimberly  joined him shortly after.

Debbian’s love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered. She loved to entertain, congregate, celebrate, and support others. She had a remarkable ability to care for people, taking care of children and lending her hand to those in need. Her devotion towards lending a helping hand to the needy will leave a great void in the minds of those whom she impacted and will be felt by the world at large for years to come.

She particularly showed her love through cooking. Her passion for cooking was evident in every dish she prepared, whether it was a simple soup or a complex dinner. She was known to bring people together around the table. Her meals were more than just nourishment; they were a reflection of the love and care for those who gathered at her table. She showed us that food is not just something we eat to sustain ourselves, but something that can nourish our souls and bring us together as a family .

She will be remembered not only for her culinary talent but also for the generosity of spirit that infused everything she did. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with a warm meal, a listening ear, a helping hand, or a comforting word.

She cherished raising her brilliant daughters the most, while providing them with a strong foundation of love and community. She shared her loving spirit with them, who will no doubt carry on their mother’s values, sense of adventure and deep compassion in all they do.

Debbian will always be remembered with much love by her Husband, Stanley Rodney; Daughters Kimberly and Kathryn Rodney; Sister, Karen Brown. Brothers Carlton and Debbon Rhoden, along with a long list of deeply-saddened Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family. She also leaves behind Esper, her sweet 2 year old rabbit who is now missing his favorite person.

Funeral and burial will take place on Saturday, June 3, and her final earthly resting place will be at Thetford Park Cemetery in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.  May God’s perpetual light shine on you forever Debs. We will always love you. Sadly missed!
