Carlo Marcel Obituary

Carlo Pierre Marcel, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Bethpage, New York, after courageously battling a long-term illness for nearly eight years. A man of deep faith, boundless charisma, and unwavering devotion to his family, Carlo leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Born on May 30, 1957, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Carlo was raised in the Catholic faith and remained spiritually grounded throughout his life. His early years were shaped by a strong sense of purpose and determination that would guide him through every chapter of his journey.

Carlo pursued higher education at St. Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business management. With his natural leadership skills and magnetic personality, he embarked in careers such as, sales, insurance, operations and management. However, the bulk of his career was with Garage Management Corporation where he rose to manage over 60 parking locations across New York City—a testament to his dedication and work ethic.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Carlo was also committed to giving back to the community. He volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club of America, where he mentored young people with the same warmth and encouragement he extended to his own family.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Kherlyn Veillard-Marcel; daughters, Marie-Michelle Sharrief and Kory Elizabeth Joseph; son Zakarri Marcel; son-in-law Jihad Sharrief; granddaughters Zahra Sharrief and Nylah Sharrief; twin sister Carole Marcel, younger sisters Marjorie DeMadet (and her husband Jacques DeMadet), Marie Carline Marcel, and Shirley Marcel Beckford (and her husband Paulson Beckford); brother Peter Graham; nephews Phillippe DuMorney, Travis Marcel, and Christian Beckford; nieces Leanda Cabral, Ashley DeMadet, Gabrielle DeMadet, and Kya Beckford; and grand-nieces Zoe Marcel and Logan Marcel. He also leaves behind countless cousins and dear friends who loved him very much.  He was also preceded in death by his beloved parents, Simone Marcel and Gerard Marcel, as well as his second mom, Jeanne Buissereth.

Carlo was a man who lived life fully—distinguished yet comical, classy yet approachable. Known for his impeccable style and debonair charm, he had an infectious energy that lit up every room he entered. Whether hosting his legendary Super Bowl parties or spontaneously dropping down for 50 crunches or push-ups—no matter the time or place—he brought joy wherever he went.

A passionate sports enthusiast with a particular love for basketball and football, Carlo never missed an opportunity to challenge younger members to a game or engage them in playful jive talk. He also enjoyed chess matches that tested both wit and patience.

Traveling was another of Carlo’s great joys. Whether exploring new destinations or revisiting favorite places with his wife by his side, he embraced each journey as an adventure worth savoring.

Though Carlo faced many health challenges in recent years with remarkable strength and grace, he never allowed illness to define him. Instead, he continued to inspire those around him with humor, resilience, and an unshakable spirit rooted in faith.

Carlo Pierre Marcel will be remembered for how he made others feel—seen, valued and uplifted. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire lives filled with love and purpose.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and kept the faith"
