Alix G. Talleyrand, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Alix Talleyrand, a resident of Queens, New York, passed away on May 7th 2023 at the age of 85.

Alix G. Talleyrand Sr. was born on August 18, 1937 in Port au Prince, Haiti. He was the second child out of six and the firstborn son of Dr. Lys and Amelia Talleyrand. He came to New York in 1958, at the age of 21, to further his education. He then returned to Haiti to marry the love of his life, Andree Camille, on March 31, 1962. They had their first child, Alix Jr., in 1963. Due to the unsettled political atmosphere in Haiti at that time, he moved his family to Puerto Rico to join his parents and also work at a paper company. This job led him to move his family to Guadeloupe where his daughter Marie-Louise was born in 1966. Given he wanted a better life for his family, he made arrangements to move to Woodside, New York in January 1969. After staying in an apartment in Woodside for nearly a year, he and his family moved to Laurelton, Queens where they shared a home with two of his siblings and their children. In 1976, he moved his wife and two children to a single-family home in Queens Village, NY where he raised his family and many extended family members too. He remained in this house for the rest of his life and will be remembered for his home being viewed as a safe and joyful haven for many extended family members. Alix was a faithful employee of Bank of America for 26 years, retiring in 1995. He also had a well-known athletic spirit, which was evidenced in his membership on the Bank of America soccer team. He was most known for his phenomenal tennis talent–he was a member of the Brookville Tennis Club and spent his free time playing in multiple local tennis tournaments and teaching tennis to all who had an interest. Alix leaves behind his two children Alix Jr. Talleyrand and Marie-Louise Talleyrand Missial, his 3 adoring grandchildren Victoria, Natalya et Nicolas Missial, his siblings Andre Jean Talleyrand, Jossette Toulme, Arnold Talleyrand, and Monique Jabouin and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Alix truly enjoyed his long life–he loved dancing with his wife, playing music and dominos with his friends and family members, sharing stories of his childhood in Haiti, and being competitive on the tennis courts. Although he was known as a quiet man with a lovely smile, his knowledge, wisdom, caring, altruism, and loyalty to family and friends could be felt by all he encountered.
