Roger Felix LaFontant 81, of Laurelton(Rosedale),NY, passed away with family by his side at Long Island Jewish Hospital on Sunday April, 8 2018. He was born on a Monday November 30, 1936 in Jacmel, Haiti.
He was the son of Herita Bastien and Felix LaFontant. He was the brother of Marie-Laure Tulloch-LaFontant and Nad LaFontant.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children, Rudolph(Rudy), Somaira(Soso), Herita(Bibi), and Jorge(JHAAAGH!!). His legacy will forever live through his grandchildren Alex(Happy), Keira, Kameel, Nadia, Richie, Shaina, Jorge(Junda), Raven, Victoria, Ava, Rahmeel, and Janeva. The extension of his legacy will live through his great grandchildren Josziah, Masen, and Kamren.
He was a graduate of Lycee Pinchinat in Jacmel Haiti and went on to work for the Ministry of Haiti as an immigration supervisor. Soon after he went to study Spanish in Barranquilla Colombia. Then Roger took his degrees and studies to the United Sates in New York City. Roger had worked as a Director of Respiratory therapy at Mount Sinai Hospital, Flower Hospital, And Terrence Cardinal Cook Health Care Center.
He was a faithful and active member at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He loved fishing, swimming, raquetball, and tennis. He was very passionate about soccer(football) and boxing. He loved to spend time with his family, big functions, and taking family vacations.
He was a loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and an amazing friend. He wil be missed dearly by all who knew him, He was an amazing Dad, great provider and an even better protector and teacher.
Above all he was a true follower of Christ and he instilled those values to his children and all who knew him. He loved God above all.
