Caleb Matteis Sr.

Caleb Matteis, Sr. was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the late Willie Matteis and the late Amilda Voiltre on February 25, 1944. In Haiti, he completed his education at Lycee Toussaint Louverture. He migrated to New York in 1970 to pursue a better life. 

He built an incredible life for himself in Queens Village, New York. 

As the years past, he developed Dementia and other health issues which slowed him down. This made everyone who knew Caleb very sad, because he was always there for them as their advisor, confidant, and mentor. They could call him at any time, and he would be present. Caleb was always the life of the party. People always wanted to be near him, because off his wisdom and tell it like it is attitude. He was a boisterous man – full of passion and enthusiasm for life. 

He is preceded by his daughter, Regine Matteis and brothers, Witchey Matteis and Arnold Baptiste. Caleb leaves many to celebrate and cherish his life. He will be sorely missed by his sisters Amalia Dussek (husband) and Mary Marthe Molen(husband), his beloved Rose Dacius, his daughters Fabienne Matteis, Nirva Matteis, and Nadége Matteis, his son Caleb Matteis, Jr. and grandchild. Additionally, there is a long list of extended family and friends who will miss him. 

At this time, we should all celebrate his life, bask in the sunshine of his smile and in his delightful and uplifting spirit, now and always
